while they are basically the same,, a home health care agency most likely emphasises more the sitter/companion type of help(someone who comes in, light housekeeping, companionship etc),, which is really not nursing, they also offer nursing visits,,,,,,, a nursing care agency may offer LPN's or less skilled care also, to give baths etc,, but their main focus often is on skilled nursing care

home health care--they come to the persons house and bath them and take their temp and blood pressure and stay 2 hrs per house.

They may be the same thing in your area. A Home Health Care Agency employs RNs (for supervision), LVNs and Home Health Aides. These people go to the homes of the ill and aged and provide in-home care. A Nursing CareGaency sounds like it may do the same thing. Call them up and ask them what they provide in the way of care, and where do they provide that care.
Home Health care is everything from cleaning, cooking, errands , feeding bathing etc. These can be done by an approved and fingerprinted (for the IHSS Dept) individual who does not necessarily need medical training (except maybe CPR) Nursing care is more specialized for the the administration of medications and rehabilitation and patient welfare.
In my area, home health is usually employed by the hospital. It usually involves a RN or LPN. For instance, open heart patients, when they are well enough to leave the hospital, the doc orders home health for them. THis involves the RN coming to the pt's home and checking vital signs, dressings, medications, wound care, etc. If anything is not within normal limits, then the RN reports this to the doc and then further decisions are made. It ususallly only lasts about 2 weeks depending on they type of recovery involved with the pt. Nursing care agencies can vary with the duties that they do. Some are for bathing, helping with medications, wound care, etc. Some only assist the pt in daily living activities such as, cooking, cleaning, helping the pt get dressed etc.
