I receive social security disability. I am on the NYC housing list since 2004. I in in very bad health. over 30% of my income goes to renting a room each month in NYC. I live on the 5th Floor and have a lot of trouble climbing stairs because of Bronchitis and arthritis of knees. I am eleigible for a paid home aid but cannot get assistance until i am in my own apt. Politicians never reply to my letters. Housing Authority does nothing even when i was homeless in 2004, I was told the homeless has no priority and that Section 8 doesn't exist which isn't true they pick and choose whom they give applications to. My Doctors have sign medical reports about my ailments i need surgury on my spine and cannot find affordable housing so that can get the care needed after surgury I need help PLEASE? Thanks

Go to legal aid let them help you with you letters.Write to your senator or congress person,try any thing.don't give up.
move to a different city
one thing you can try if you are not happy there and you are on sec8 it can follow you anywhere in usa you should have a case worker that should help you in that. here link to sec 8
