Corporate involvement in elections: Unconstitutional breach of our right to a republican form of government?

Question:
Campaigns are so expensive these days that large corporations are they main donors. Due to their publicly-traded status, some corporations have achieved enough economic power to compete with individuals, special interest groups formed by groups of individuals, and businesses owned by individuals, when it comes to deciding who will or will not have the money necessary to campaign. Yet they are run like a twisted form of democracy, where votes which will determine the leadership of the corporation and some decisions the corporation makes are bought and sold on an almost unregulated market.

Is this involvement an extra step in our campaign process, one which dominates the involvement of the people?

Is corporate involvement in campaign donations an inconstitutional breach of our right to a republican form of government? Why or why not?

Answer:
Yes. Absolutely.
When you use the word "republican", I'm going to assume that you mean our 'republic form of government' and not "Republican" the GOP party. Because when corporations are directly involved so heavily in our government, it is no longer the government of the people. By definition, our govenment has become a fascist government. Unfortunatly, the supreme court deemed the corporation as having the rights of the individual back in the late 1800's. This was a very unfortunate decision on the part of that supreme court for the history of our country as a democracy and republic. In most cultures and country's they would call all the money corporations have in politicians election coffers for favors in government, bribery. In our country, we unfortunately call it free speech.
It's not unconstitutional, because the Supreme Court has ruled that money equals speech. If corporations can't give our political prostitutes as much as they want to, it violates their free speech rights. Yeah, I know, what about the rest of us? Well, we don't count, because it's all about money. It's not going to change until the Supreme Court changes. Nevertheless, there is hope. I'm old enough to remember when racial segregation was legal. It was upheld by an 1896 Supreme Court decision. No, I'm not that damned old, but that decision was in force until 1954, when the Supreme Court reversed it. So this decision could be reversed sometime in the future too. Hope springs eternal, you know?
