Should lower IQ couples be allowed to have children? Should lower IQ individuals be allowed to vote?
Question:
If people produce dumb children is this bettering society in any way?
and
do you want your next leader to be decided by people who cannot reason to the maximum degree necessary in deciding such important positions
your thoughts please!
Answer:
In effect I kind of agree with you. Unfortunately that equates to Fascism. We cannot be a true Democratic Republic if we do not allow all of our citizens a voice.
As to the question of children. I believe it is reasonable for a couple or single to be made to take a parenting exam before producing a member of our society. We have to take tests and demonstrate our skill in order to drive a car, but we allow any idiot to raise a serial killer or pedophile. At the first sign of pregnancy the test should be administered and if failing the pregnancy should be aborted. Or perhaps even better to appease the right-to-life crowd we should have forced contraception, in the form of a pill or shot. If you miss your clinic appointment, then sterilization. Yeah I know I'll get letters.
Why not? They can become President.
Someone has to dig the ditches.
Are you a nazi?
Maybe someone should have had a say in your own birth.
what is this...that darwin list? i remeber this from bio...
Well they should be able to have children, because there's many ways we can make use of them, but as for the voting, im not so sure. Besides, an IQ test doesnt determine your ability to make good decisions.
You say "lower IQ." This is so subjective its problematic. And just why do you believe that IQ tests accurately determine intelligence?
no, stupid people shouldnt breed..its not good for society...
The real question we should be asking is...should lower IQ people be allowed to ask questions...?
I say if two low IQ people get together, their kids can still be smart. But people with low IQ or have no political education should NOT be able to vote. Our country is already spiraling to stupidity, and its cuz everyone is just going with the flow.
lol...you do have a point...but i believe the main people who should not be allowed to parent children are the gay ones because they are all perverted and will probly molest the poor things
yes
No, they should not be allowed to vote, but the entire democratic base would be out. Dems would have a hissy fit.
Why not? Liberals do...
if the parents r dumb that doesnt mean the kids will come out dumb its like if the parents do drugs that doesnt mean the kids r gonna come out doin drugs its all in the enviormnment the kid has 2 go 2 school lower individuals should vote bcuz it is their patriotic duty
A low IQ twit has been The Decider for the past 6 years, why shouldn't they breed?
Besides, where else would the republican party find new voters?
yes, IQ is just judging math not other things so why shouldn't they be able to (besides lower IQ often have smart babies)
Vote yes... Children? A license
There are inaccuracies in IQ tests. How will you determine with absolute certainty that someone has a lower IQ? This is a slippery slope that could lead to Hitler-like philosophies.
Yes. No matter their intelligence, they retain these basic rights of American citizens. However, about the children, it is a proven fact that higher IQ parents generally have lower IQ children and vice-versa.
Are you old enough to vote?
And how come YOUR parents had you!
And a dumb person is someone who cannot physically speak!
I think YOU are referring to retards!
So YOU are NOT as clever as YOU think!
If we let Republicans vote, I think we have to let everyone vote. :)
It would be interesting to know how exactly you would regulate this, administering IQ tests to a couple hundred million eligible voters.
not in your case
While an IQ test can be revealing regarding certain types of intelligence, I don't think it's a good way of determining overall intelligence. And besides, I've known some very smart people who were selfish, narcissistic and completely lacking in social abilities and moral intelligence. So, no, it shouldn't be a factor.
Why not? Lower IQ individuals can ask questions.
Yes. Everyone has the right to have children and vote no matter who they are. Sometimes dumb children don't come from dumb parents. Sometimes it depends on the person (how hard do they work?). Don't the electorial colleges elect the president anyways?
Just b/c they have low IQ does not mean that their child would be the same. As a matter of fact Alexander Gram Bell tried to make it illegal for two Deaf people to marry so that their would be no Deaf children.. but only 10% of deaf children are born to deaf parents.
As for voting you can't take that right away from them that would be ridiculous. (unless their liberal then take it away.. j/k)
Re: voting, we make it so that everyone should have a say becasue we assume that they know what they want and should have the right to have those wishes represented. In a country like Australia where voting is compulsory, it does not yield the best response as even low-IQ people must vote. However, in the US low-IQ people are allowed to vote, so... same problem I guess.
As for children, there's not much we can do about it but breed a lot if we are intelligent and hope the Darwin Awards have lots of notable entries to keep the numbers down.
yes to both questions. i don't believe in such a thing as dumb. everybody is special in his own way. we can only have one leader & the rest are followers but we cannot have all leaders and no followers. we need proper balance in our society. those people who cannot reason to the maximum degree contribute to the society as well and they have equal rights as everybody else. it is now the challenge of those people with high Iq to go down to the level of the ones with low IQ (if they are truly competent to be resilient & diverse).
I work with mentally handicapped adults. Yes, they all vote. It is their right as Americans. There are a lot of high-functioning people that voted for Bush, if that tells you anything.
