I want to enroll in a TEFL online course and I'm not a native English speaker. I have been teaching English in China for 3 years now and I want to try to go to other places too, but finding a job is difficult because mostly they would prefer hiring native English speakers . I would want to have the certificate and the training to be able to teach to other places.
Answer:
If you did a IELTS test and gained a level of 7+ you would prove that you had a very high level of proficiency. Employers would start to consider you for work.
If you then went on to do a CELTA (and there will be a centre in China), you would then have passed the universally recognised basic TEFL qualification. On line courses are not generally recognised as they have no assessed teaching component.
As a non-native speaker, you would be best to do both of the above.
Yes it is possible for Non native english speakers to enroll for TEFL/ IELTS. I will say go for IELTS exam. I did found a similar information on
