I never went to college. Can I take courses online to earn a degree?

Question:
What would I need to take to get the basics to be able to earn a degree?

Answer:
i wouldn't advise it. most internet course degrees are not recognised degrees. some mail ones are though, so check first.
you can get a degree online, you'd have to go to that site, and find out what you'd need. but, thoes kinds of degrees aren't as good as a college degree.
You can get a college degree. I do not know if most of them will actually be able to help your career though. There could be some scams out there.

If you want a degree, but are too busy working you should contact one of your local colleges. Usually colleges will already have online courses available which make getting your degree much easier.

It also depends on what type of degree you are looking into getting. They have Phoenix online. They offer some business degrees as well as others. You could also try Devry University, although their degrees are more technical, like computer programming.

Just make sure you do your research. :)

Also, you will give the website some of your information and one of the recruiters will give you call and tell you everything you need to know. As well as prices per class.
Yes, just make sure that your school is a good school and make sure that your school is accredited by the people who's accreditation is important. I hear penfoster is really good and they have a nice payment plan. There are really good schools out there just make sure you do your research first before you just up and take a class
I understand that you can but I hear the degree is meaningless.

Check out the University of La Verne's night school classes for people who work ~~~ now that's a real degree.
Short answer: Yes.

Now for more details. :) Different states and therefore different schools have differing requirements for what general education courses are part of a degree. Also, different schools will have different requirements for the major. You could look at the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science requirements at one school and find almost completely different requirements at another school for the same degree. Therefore your first decision will be from which school you want to get your degree.

In order to choose a school, you'll have to find them online. Probably one of the best places to look will be to check with your state colleges. Many community and state colleges have some online degrees now. Also, the familiarity of the name of the school in your local area won't hurt your job searching after you graduate.

Once you find some schools, check on their accreditation. You will want to make sure they are at least regionally accredited. You can check on accreditation at http://www.chea.org/search/search.asp... A regional accreditation is generally considered better than a national accreditation by either DETC or ACICS.

Also, please don't pay more than $250 per semester credit hour for your courses. Anything more than that for an undergraduate degree is just throwing away money. Some examples of state colleges that offer some online degrees.

Fort Hays State University (KS) - $137 per credit hour; http://www.fhsu.edu/virtualcollege/...

Peru State University (NE) - $130 per credit hour;
http://www.peru.edu/offuttafb/degreeprog...

University of Wyoming - $134 per credit hour
http://outreach.uwyo.edu/ocp/

American Public University - $250 per credit hour but includes books!

All of the above are regionally accredited and are just a small sample of what is available. Congratulations to Phoenix, Strayer and Kaplan graduates, you now know you were over-charged. :)

If you can't find a degree you are interested in at those schools, ask another question similar to "I want a degree in _________ and I want to take it online. Where?" and I'll answer it when I see it. However, please realize that not all degrees can be completed online.

Good luck,
