I really enjoyed "zuzu'' featuring josephine baker, as well as "the long, long trailer'' with desi arnaz and lucille ball...i know that they are not the most popular choices, but I recommend them. :)
I love old movies! My best childhood memories are going to the Egyptian theater and the Charlie Chaplin silent movie house with my dad and seeing all the old movies.
My top faves are Keystone cops, Imitation of life, A star is born (all of them!) & Alice doesn't live here anymore much better then the TV Show! What are your faves? Oh and I am going to watch an orsen wells one with his wife I taped Shinghi something. I love the AMC
There are so many great classics. I especially like old Judy Garland movies like "Harvey Girls" and "Meet Me In St. Louis". Another favorite is Jimmy Stewart, he was so personable. You can't go wrong with either of them, in my opinion.
You'd probably get a kick out of thumbing through my parents' old record collection-- Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc. That music is still great.
My choice would be the Warner Bros. films from the'30's (Robin Hood, the 1st technicolor film) all the way through the '50's, even the B-Grade movies are far superior and entertaining to the crap of today. So many stars. So many Studio Moguls. The Studio system of creating a star, and nailing them to an ironclad contract. The Stars who had the courage to break the contracts. Sorry, I'm probably mumbl9ing have been on Answers for 12 hours now! e-mail me with your plan or ideas, I'll try to help, my knowledge of that era is unabashadly unlimited. lol
I've always loved Tennessee Williams-A Streetcar Named Desire is powerfully raw-Brando blows me away every time. Tonight I sat down and watched "Night of the Iguana" and was thoroughly impressed with both Richard Burton and Ava Gardner. And I can't talk about classics with mentioning "Gone With the Wind"-still one of my all time favorites.
