Which online course for bookkeeping is good for get job ? need certificate ?
Question:
Bookkeeping Certificate is necessary for get job ?
Answer:
No a certificate is not necessary - you just need to make sure you know what you are doing.
First of all, you need to know what services you are going to offer your clients. Here are some ideas:
~ accounts receivable (billing customers and receiving payments)
~ accounts payable (paying bills the business owes)
~ reconciling monthly bank statements
~ payroll
~ payroll taxes
~ sales taxes
~ compiling reports
I would recommend checking out the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers at www.aipb.com. They offer books filled with information and quizzes to help you learn. You can even become certified! I have several of their books and they are really good.
I would check with your state government to find out what forms are needed to fill out for payroll taxes, etc.
New business set-up is something that would do well also. You can help new business owners apply for all the tax numbers they will need.
Also, check out www.quickbooks.com. You can become a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and get listed on their website. QuickBooks is a great program to use and there are a lot of people out there using it. You can learn to do payroll and set up a chart of accounts etc. It is well worth the investment.
Getting clients will be the hardest. You will have to prove that you are honest, trustworthy, and have knowledge of what you are doing.
I recommend learning Excel if you don't already know how to use it.
Also, you might want to purchase a book called Payroll Accounting 2006 (with Klooster & Allen Payroll CD-ROM and ADP's PC Payroll for Windows CD-ROM). It is a college textbook and you can get it at Amazon.com. You may be able to get it used on Ebay or at www.betterworld.com. I used this book in a college payroll accounting course and it is really good.
Good luck!
