Depends upon which college or university that provides the online courses.
University of Phoenix - $494 per credit hour plus fees. 3 credit hour course more than $1,500. Ridiculously high
American Public University - http://www.apu.apus.edu $250 per semester credit hour. $750 per 3 credit hour course
University of Indiana - http://scs.indiana.edu/ Depends upon the course, but a typical 3 credit hour course is $482
Louisiana State University - http://is.lsu.edu $76.33 per semester credit hour. A 3 credit hour course is $229
All of the above schools, except for UoP, do not charge extra to out-of-state students for online courses.
If you are a California resident, some community colleges in California are as low as $20 per semester credit hour.
