What have been your experiences with online courses? What would you say are the pros and cons?

Online courses are really nice to take, I think. If you don't have a drive to study, though, maybe the course isn't right for you. To take an online course, you have to be devoted to read your course material because you can't rely on your professor's lectures to help you with tests or assignments. However, usually the professors will give you a large time frame to complete tests and projects. That's a really big help and it gives you the opportunity to do your work and study when you want to.
I think the only con is that it's hard to stay motivated, and keep up with the classes. You have to find out when things are due on your own... without being reminded.
Otherwise it's not much different. Just set apart time to read the textbook a little instead of listen to a professor.
I took online classes at a community college years ago. The great thing about it, is that I didn't have to get up at a certain time for class. The bad thing was when I needed deeper explanation, I just had to refer back to the "Lecture" the teacher wrote out.
AN online course was the only course I have ever failed. It is hard to stay on task and on schedule. Make a schedule of what you need to do each day to stay on top of it and then do it. If you need constant reminders when things are due, online would not be good. Requires a LOT of self-discipline!! A pro was that I could do it on my own schedule, even in the middle of the night, the con was that I always put it off for another day and did not get done in time to get a passing grade!!
Onlline courses are easier and harder at the same time! You dont have the stress of going into class, and it is mostly all on your own time! This last semester however I took all online classes and got D's in most of them! Part of that was because my hubby got deployed so it kind of screwed me up! But you just have to be organized and always turn in your homework on time! If it is only one class I would take it!! Have fun!
