How do I learn to translate from today's English to Shakespearean language? Is there a course or online help?
Question:
Answer:
You want to translate INTO Shakespearean? Well, keep in mind that (a) people didn't really speak quite like that, (b) a common form of English was yet to be agreed on at that time (before dictionaries), and (c) Shakespeare wrote in what would be considered even in modern English a very flowery manner.
If you really want to speak like Shakespeare, you need to get ready to use a lot of imagery and other poetic devices that we rarely use in everyday speech. That's the hard part. Making it sound "old" is comparatively simple - just mimic the personal pronouns ("thy") and weird verb forms ("doth") of the man himself.
Good luck :-)
