Do high school courses online and get credit for them?

Question: I was talking to my friend recently and he mentioned something about doing high school courses online for free and getting credit for them so you can skip them i guess. So i was wondering if anyone could point me to that site or could help me find it. If there is such a thing and i can do courses online then i can get ahead. That would be a good thing.

I live in Florida and signed up with Florida Virtual School. Its pretty cool and I am sure more states have it. I recommend talking to a consoler about it.
