What are some good online colleges?

Question:
I am looking to get a degree in either history or ancient history, but I have no time to actually go to classes. Can anyone give me the links to some colleges that provide online courses or degrees?

Answer:
Typically, online programs from state colleges and universities will be your best option. These will be better respected than a degree from University of Phoenix or Kaplan or any other for-profit school.

An online degree for a person who wants to study history, will usually be listed as a Bachelor's degree of General Studies or Liberal Arts. There are a few schools that offer such degrees online.

To the other poster, some people may not live close to a community college or university. For instance, it is a 45 minute drive to the nearest community college from where I live. It is close to an hour and a half drive to the nearest 4-year University. Do you have the time after a full day of work to drive 75 miles, sit in class for an hour or more, and then drive 75 miles home? Since I have a Master's and no longer need to attend college, it's not a problem for me, but for others, I can see the need for online programs.

Good luck
Normally online schools don't provide degrees in those specific subjects.

The best suggestion I would have is to look around at some colleges near by, universities actually, and ask them about their distance learning programs. I know that the university that I attend has distance learning, and many universities are going that route. If there are some good universities near by, check them out. I can't say for sure if they'll have an online history major, but possibly something along those lines.

Best of luck.
i find it really hard to believe that you don't have time to attend classes --- almost any community college and lots of regular schools will have evening and weekend classes for people who work full time

even if you're working full time you can still earn a degree!
