Which individual /group has changed the face of music in past 70 years?
Question:
Answer:
I'm going to have to say, people who started blues/jazz. Because that's where you get rock & rap from. People such as Bo Diddley (sometimes called the originator of rock n roll and taught elvis his famous hip move after he saw him preform at the apollo), Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Santana, Chuck berry, and yes, little richard, lol :),
Most of the "rockers" you hear today and from the 60-80's (like black sabbath, the doors, beetles, elvis, etc) were heavily influenced from the blues muscians and bo diddley, I'll post a link to bo diddley for those who don't know :)
Great question by the way :)
Jim Morrison of the Doors. The only totally original artist of the last century.
I would say go for people like blur, radio head and the sex pistols.
The Beatles.
U2. I'm not a huge fan, but they have done a lot for the music industry, and the world.
elvis i reckon
elvis presley
Michael Jackson is in music and he changed his face. He would like to think it's the same thing. Oh how wrong he is.

I'd say the biggest one would be Elvis or Buddy Holly and to some degree even James Brown and Aretha Franklin.
my nomination is the Beatles. once they stepped away from covering old rock & roll hits, and started writing their own, they soared from there. it was exciting to find out what was on their next album.
The Beatles, of course, but also in their own way, The Monkees. They got hit with that lame-@$$ nickname "The Pre-Fab Four" by their detractors, but they were actually the forerunners of all these "making-the-band" reality shows we have now.
Michael Jackson
Prince
Jimi Hendrix
Aretha Frankline
Elvis Presley
James Brown
The beatles.
Ray Charles
Stevie Wonder
Bob Marley
Red hot chilli Peppers.
Billie Holiday
What about Madonna. 3 decades and still going strong. She Always manages to keep up with the times and has had so many different styles.
You said in the last 70 years. That would include people like BB King and Muddy Waters and a lot of other black performers. Their blues music was copied by a myriad of rock and roll groups who each expanded it in their own direction.
Jay-z, Michael Jackson, Neptunes aka: Farrell, Outkast, Beastie Boys, 50 Cent

The Zombies; they're sound was way ahead of its time and people couldn't handle it; they were apart of the British Invasion
Clarence Leonidas Fender (August 10, 1909 - March 21, 1991), also known as Leo Fender, was an American luthier who founded Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, now known as Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, and later founded G&L Musical Products (G&L Guitars). His guitar, bass, and amplifier designs from the 1950s continue to dominate popular music more than half a century later. Marshall and many other amplifier companies have used Fender instruments as the foundation of their products. Fender and inventor Les Paul are often cited as the two most influential figures in the development of electric instruments in the 20th century.
Renee and Ronata
for me it would have to be the Beatles and groups in the 60s
I think that Rock (Hard/soft), Rap, R&B, Funk, Ecclectic(Neo-soul) all of it has changed the face of music in the past 70yrs. The Artist now have a lot more to say. The spectrum is broader, so the music has many chances of becoming or staying epic. A lot of the music today verses 70yrs. ago had some the exact same meanings but was said or song in a different way. Im thinking like the BeeGee's vs. The Commandore's. It's the same, but song different, & have the very same meaning.
Elvis Presley started it all, need i say more
and my guess is if he were in his prime 2day 4get it, the king would still ruel, but
don't take my word for it, ask any women.
He's the one and only original american idol . . .
Simon Kowel, eat your heart out . . .
Stock Aitken and Waterman.
They turned the progression of the musical art into crap in 2 years flat.
The Beatles.
All of the groups from the 1960's and 1970's. They were all so unique in their sounds and styles. But to choose just one, it would have to be the Beatles, followed by Jimi Hendrix and The Stones. And, don't forget Joni Mitchell and Steven Stills
the beatles, rolling stones, elvis, jimi hendrix, blind lemon jefferson, johnny cash,
although he was not the 1st or the last but because most people can identify him it has to be bob marley and his message of love
