Online courses for a major in dance?
Question:
Answer:
Dance is a subject that requires a teacher to be present in the same studio as the student where the teacher can see thet student's whole body and even give some hands-on corrections to correct the student's placement. Until technology advances to the point where we can have Star Trek-like holodecks that allow such physical interaction with "virtual" people, you will never see a legitimate dance program ever offered on-line.
Real college dance programs are extremely demanding because of the number of hours required in the studio. Attendence in such classes is mandatory, as grades are based on attendence, plus effort and demonstrated improvement. If you are a dance major right now, you would know this. But then you also wouldn't ask such a woefully ignorant question. Stick with subjects that you can learn from books for an on-line degree.
I doubt they will be able to have it out there. Most places that offer dance don't have online degrees because of the requirement of being able to perform or interpret the arts. While they may eventually offer some of the history of dance online, I think the arts will be one of the last to really offer an online degree in that sorts. - sorry :)
