Question about online courses?

Question:
i want to take online courses in science and mathematics so that i have better opportunities to become a biologist or physicist later, but i can't really find a university that offers them. i don't want to live on campus anywhere, i just want online courses, does anybody know of anywhere that offers a degree in either physics or mathematics [statistics]? preferably in both.

Answer:
TO my knowledge there are no schools online that do that... they offer things like business, etc. Science and math requrie a LOT of labs and there is no way to do that online. Also know that MOST offline schools will not accept any classes you take from an online school..different accreditation.
I don't know too much about this, but check out Advanced Placement.
I have looked around for some time, and have found little in the way of on-line undergraduate degree programs in biology, chemistry, mathematics or physics.

The on-line only "universities" tend not to cover the sciences well. The campus based universities with good on-line (or other distance format) programs tend to offer a few undergraduate courses, or complete master's programs, but nothing in between.

So, you can get the first year or two years of these subjects at a number of places, but then you run out of options.

There are on-line programs in the sciences run by universities in other countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. But I find it hard to tell how good these programs really are.

There is one possibility in mathematics: The University of London's External Programme has a BSC in Mathematics and Economics, offered through the London School of Economics (an excellent university). It is not a science degree and you have to take the economics, but you can get a lot of sophisticated math in this program, perhaps enough to get you into an MS program in applied math later. In my case, I already had a BA in a different field, but wanted to study math. There was no good distance or on-line BS program available. So I took individual distance and on-line courses in math, until I had enough to cover the prerequisites for beginning graduate courses. That (along with my BA degree) was enough to get me into an MS program.
