Can anyone recommend good Vintage shops in London?
Question:
I've never shopped for vintage clothing before but I want to try something different as I'm not too fond of Highstreet fashions at the moment, and that's all that seems to be around.
Also, I might be visiting Washington, DC this summer, so if anyone is from that area and can recommend some interesting/individual clothing stores that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Answer:
i read in victoria beckhams book that radio days in london is an excellent vintage shop it sells stuff such as old fashioned prom dresses, shoes and antique/vintage jewellery. the shops address is 87 lower marsh, waterloo and i have downloaded you a little map detailing how to get there. the nearest tube station is lambeth north and i would say its about a 10 minute walk from there!

I read that there was a Vintage shop somewhere in Marylebone.
Camden Lock market.
Under the arches.
Try your local branch of Traid. See the 'Find a TRAID shop' page below, as there are a few branches in London, but they all specialise in different types of fashion.
i would recommend bricklane. They have a huge market on sunday, but the best shop is beyond retro. there are many more but i am not sure of the names. good bagel shop top if you get peckish
camden market (canden town)
portobella market (notting hill)
in covent garden there is a shop called betsy johnson...truely amazing. have fun! xxxx
Hello!
I dont know about shopping in Washington but over here you could try a few places! London is great if you are near there but other cities such as Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham also have good places to scour for some vintage clothes.
Also look in charity shops. Oxfam do there own high end range which is good quality rare items from donkeys years ago (look on Yell. com ot the yellow pages and find your local charity shops and ask them what they have in!
Do a search on google for 'vintage clothes shops..' and the insert where you live after it and see what comes up.
Be very careful some people will say vintage this or vintage that but it isnt!
For example I have a very keen eye- I noticed something a miss in a very expensive vintage boutique near me.
Went in one day to see a mini dress with a psychadelic pattern -was gorgeous-priced at £50. Would have got it if it wasnt the exact same dress from New Look for £20!
So just beware!!!!!!!!
Even though vintage is nice dont pay over the odds for it! Leeds market is very good as the jewellry there is vintage or Preston market ( one stall has a pile of shiny things that all look like junk but you can find a few treasures!)
Anyway I hope this helps!!
Hugs
Fizzy
