Have you had any good experience taking a college course online at your home?
Question:
Answer:
I have taken at least 90% of my college courses online. I LOVE it!! You can "attend" class anytime you want! And no worries about the weather or if laundry is done! Depending on how your specific class can change (I've went to 2 schools online and both were very different), you may have a message board that you use to communicate with other class members. You'll have regular assignments due...perhaps more papers than in a regular class. But either you have to buy an actual textbook, or many schools now are going to .pdf files for textbooks... It's hard to say specifically what to expect because it varies from school to school. Just make sure you don't slack off since it is online, it is easy to get distracted (hence, where 75% of my points on here have come during! LOL). Treat it just like a regular course. In terms of if it will be good for you or not, it depends on how you learn. For me, when I was in high school (and the college courses I took on campus), I found it a waste of time to sit in class listening to a teacher lecture. I don't take good notes and get very bored. This way, if I get bored, I can get up and get a bowl of ice cream or soda or take a break to watch my fave TV show and then come back to it.
I'd definitely recommend it, but you really have to have the self-discipline for it.
Good luck!! You'll love it!!
I earned my Masters in Educational Technology on line at the American Intercontinental University On line. I loved it. You will write a lot of papers, they generally send you your text books and you will read sections of the text and possibly have on line discussions, generally posted like a discussion board. I think if you are a self motivated person and don't need to have your instructor breathing down your neck to do your work that you will also enjoy your experience.
