Does MIT offer an online program or any short term courses?

They don't have on-line courses, but they do have a lot of their course material online - so you can learn stuff, but not get any credit. They call it OpenCourseWare, and it's constantly growing.

Not sure about short term courses for the general public, but I know they have occasional "courses" (non-credit) for their alums. The price is amazingly expensive, though.
