Just bought an HD Tv. Picture not so clear please help.?

Question:
Hi guys and girls,
I just purchased a Samsung 1080p hd tv. I have digital dish network. The picture is ok not as good as the store. Will an hd receiver clear them up? I know the hd channels will look great but will it clear up the rest of the dish channels as well? Thanks!

Answer:
NO.it will not clear up the LOW DEFINITION TV signals.
But you'll have High Definition..

Why do you think the stores have their own Hi Def system?
Most TV sets can do better than the present day signals can...
yes sir. with out question the picture will be at least 9 times sharper.
Yes a hd reciever is better but, what cords did you connect your reciever to your television with, you want to be using hdmi or dvi for the best picture.
you must usse either the hdmi cable or the component the 3 color cable for full hd if not you may only be at 480p or 720p not the full 1080p
ta da!
You will NEED the HD /digital receiver to get a good picture on that TV.
As you have discovered, and HD tv will make an HD signal look great, while magnifying every flaw in a standard definition signal.

you mention use of the s-video output on your reciever which indicates you still have an old one. Get the HD reciever. the HDMI and componet outputs will slightly improve the picture you get from the SD channels. And of course you will then be able to watch the channels that are sent in HD.
All of the channels you get form Dish Network are in digital, but not all are in HD. You have to subscribe to HD programming to have access to HD channels. It will be $20 on top of your monthly bill and you will get up to 32 HD channels, that is in addition to the regular channels you are getting now. It will not clear up the standard definition channels you are now getting. You also have to get an HD receiver to be able to watch HD channels. I think, as you already are an existing subscriber, you will be required to pay for the receiver. The best receiver/DVR (HD-DVR) Dish Network has (or the market has) is the VIP 622; it is for $199.99.

On connections, the best to use would be HDMI. VIP 622 and all HD receivers from Dish Network supports HDMI. You can also use component video, but still I recommend HDMI. Sadly, HD receivers and HD-DVRs available right now for Dish Network, DirecTV, and cable subscribers could only go up to 1080i in resolution. But it should do justice to your HDTV.
