How can I get more HD local channels?

Question:
I have been using a normal UHF/VHF antenna and it picks up two digital channels and they're both ABC. I just bought an HDTV antenna and I set it up and all I could get was the analog channels and non of the digital channels. I went to antennaweb also but does that really help? I need to find more HD channels but now I'm starting to think that only an outdoor antenna can pick them up. Oh, my HDTV also has an NTSC/ATSC and QAM tuners.

Answer:
antennaweb provide two pieces of information: a) the best direction for your antenna
b) how powerful an antenna you need to get specified stations

Yes, you may need an external antenna to get the most stations.
But use a compass and antennaweb (or simply the antenna strength meter in your TV) to point the antenna to the right direction. HDTV signal reception is very sensitive to direction.
