Do you think Christians should boycott Direct TV and Dish Network?
Question:
Yes I know it's a free country, and it's free to boycott too. This is a moral issue that every Christian should think about.
Thanks!
Dude, if you're boycotting every company that provides access to pornography, UNPLUG YOUR MODEM NOW!
...People can choose what channel packages they want, from the basic to the silver, gold or platinum channels. Yes they provide the service, but it's the people want to buy them. If you have a problem with porn, then that's an issue you must deal with, why must you push your religious/moral issue on someone else who want to watch porn.
This is why Christians keep those channels around. They can watch them in the privacy of their own home, and nobody is there to criticize them or put them down for it.
Boycotting them is a really dumb idea. That's like boycotting COX Internet because there are Porn Sites.
no...but i think all people should boycott or complain to dish service and cable service for not offering a la carte service instead of paying for channels you don't want or don't support that life style...such as MTV, BET, CMT, etc...beside i think the choice is clear for porn channels...they aren't free you do have to pay for them...
1) the pope's infallible
2) the check's in the mail
3) you don't know what you're talking about, because you've never seen porn...
I am not a Christian, but I commend you for your suggestion that Christians boycott these channels, rather than saying that the government should intervene and shut them down. Most Christians would like to see the government step in and ban pornography, alcohol, violence on television, etc. This may sound okay, but it would lead to communism. Christians and all other people need to realize that when you find something to be immoral, reject it. If enough people reject it, it will go away.
We have Directv but if you dont order showtime, HBO, star, packages and just order ppv movies from time to time that is clean you wont have this problem,. There are also many great christian channels with directv so I see a boycott being unnessary as we as the consumer can make simple changes to our package orders so these types of channels are not accessible in our homes. Order basic so you do not have "porn". Porn channels are ordered by the consumer. The consumer can have directv or dish without them.
Direct TV and Dish Network signals come down from the heavens, God rules heaven so God must be sending down the porn.
The Rev. Jimmy Swaggart sure liked his satellite dish, paid for by all those faithful followers.
If you don't want to watch the channels, then...don't watch them. Whew, glad I could help! And so much easier than getting into another fight about how you want to force your beliefs onto all other people.
They provide the service you mentioned for a fee. So, how exactly is this affecting you as a Christian? If you don't pay, you don't see the porn... I don't get what the big deal is. Why boycott a fee-based service? That's like saying "I hate the mafia, and HBO shows the Sopranos. So, even though I don't get HBO, I'm boycotting it."
Makes no sense.
I think its a great idea of christians boycott:
boycott television in general- so many bad shows on cable after all.
boycott restaurants- some serve alcohol, some have girls in tight clothes , for goodness sake.
boycott fruits and vegetables- the produce industry abuses migrant workers with below subsistence wages, living in squatter shacks likd slaves is deplorable way to treat any of God's children, even if they are catholic..
boycott meat: we all know they mistreat animals, pump them full of steroids and antibiotics to grow large quicker, pen them in tight places and then kill them, murder I say!
boycott the coastal states- way to many democrats live on the coastal states, makes me feel like I will catch homosexuality just by driving through california for gosh sakes.
boycott the news, you know its all liberal propaganda
boycott schools, they talk about things like 'the worlds religions', 'safe sex', ' peaceful solutions to world problems' and diplomacy, no reason to cloud the minds of our children with those evils.....
