Do you think Christians should ban Direct TV and Dish network? 2nd edit.?
Question:
http://dishnetwork.tvlistings.zap2it.com...
Channels 492 - 499 are HARD core pornography (XXX) where they zoom up close and personal.
Christians should boycott anybody who provides this type of material. ie "Have nothing to do with them".
No I would never suggest the government make porn illegal as I'm completely pro-constitution, however, as Christians, we can teach these companies a lesson of morality.
Direct TV and Dish Network both could be impacted by over 100 million a year (combined) if just 20% of Christians would boycott them for having hard core porn channels. These losses could even impact them enough to take these channels down.
This is different from the internet as my ISP does not provide pornography directly, nor is the internet 1 or 2 corporations. *note these companies pay porn companies for rights to PPV and give revenue of porn sales to porn companies.
If we banned em, they may rethink selling porn.
Answer:
No cause there is alwasy the internet and as christians we shouldn't be watching those things right:)
Dude - just let it go, okay? If this is the most pressing issue in your life, then you need a hobby. We've answered this twice - rewording it isn't going to change anything.
Enough.
...Here's something to think about, the Internet has free porn and you can get access to almost any type of porn you want from soft to hardcore, to bondage to rape porn, again it is free. Trying to boycott Direct TV or dish network is not going to stop porn, even if you get all the Christians in the world to boycott it, porn will still be around and there is nothing you can do about it, and that is the truth, your just going to have to learn to accept it.
...
GET A LIFE LOOOOOOOSER!
Have you watched the news lately? There are far worse things to worry about as a Christian than Porn.
If just 20% of Christians stood up to fight poverty, homelessness, disease, just imagine the impact...
I repeat, if you don't want to watch it, don't watch it!
Besides, they'll make enough from the PPV porn channels to more than offset your ban.
I have had both Dish and Direct TV, and never have i noticed any of these channels. We just make a favorites list of the ones we do wish to watch, and don't even look at the rest. If you don't agree with porn, don't watch it. Certainly, you have the right to boycott if you want, but what about the other 400+ channels that you can learn watch and learn from? If there are only 7 or 8 of these porn channels like you quoted, just skip them, block them, or whatever. But I think there are as many Discovery Channels and Home Improvement Channels as that. I am a Christian, and just ignore that part of culture. You can also get a smaller package, or ask the company to make a "Christian Approved" selection group that doesn't have anything over PG if you want.
I find it odd that you know so much about the porn channels. Can you quote the numbers of the religious channels without looking them up?
No. Boycotts are an attempt to control and people should weigh carefully when they do such things. I and many believers dont boycott places for OFFERING that which we disagree with. But we do boycott places that ADVOCATE and directly SUPPORT evil.
Your reasoning is also flawed pertaining to your defense of the internet. Those satelitte companies as well as your ISP do not create the offending programming or material, they simply provide.
Lets say for arguments sake, that they stripped the entire web of anything remotely lustful. Before the next quarter hit, you would see a MASSIVE decline in ISP revenues. Therefore, it doesnt matter if they have a subscription format or not. Part of their revenue undeniably is from porn as it is providing nazi hate material, plans for chemical bombs, haven for Al Queda, and about a million other offensive things.
One way or another, the world is going to offer their wares. We cant stop them and when we try to, we become enemies of free speech.
Guy, you're off your rocker.
Give it a rest already, Jesus Christ.
