Question:
When I bought my HDTV I realized I can only get caption on SD Channels and none on HD channels (Yes, SD not HD). This caption is from TV and not the DVR box. I read some forum answers to the effect that I can access the setup menu on the DVR box through the remote (With power off). When I do that and enable the caption thru the cable box and no matter what other setting I do, I get a very bad quality caption on ALL channels at all times that can NOT be stopped by turning the TV caption off. I only need the CC at times when things are too noisy or too quiet in the house or for some movies. I hate caption for sporting events. I'm wondering what can I do with the DVR box so I can have TV control the CC. BTW: I have a component cable which I'm upgrading soon to HDMI.

There is nothing you can do to improve the situation. The 6412's clumsy closed captioning is only accessible through the menu you already know about. Switching to HDMI won't improve this. Complain to your cable provider.
