Whats the difference between HD and regular tv?

Question:
I want to buy Discovery Channels Planet Earth set of DVDs but I dont know whether to buy the HD one or regular one. I thought the regular ones picture quality would be worse but Im not sure if HD would work on my TV. Please help...

Answer:
The regular DVD's play on current DVD players. The HD version requires an HD DVD player and will NOT play on a regular DVD player. If all you have is a regular DVD player and a regular TV, then you probably should not get the HD DVD version.

HD is digital and regular TV is analog. buy the regular dvds they will be dvd quality
Regular TV is TV that you watch every day, or at frequent intervals.

Seriously, there is no point in getting HD DVDs unless you have a) a box to play them on (they will NOT play on a standard DVD player), and also have
b) an HDTV
not to forget that the two are connected to each other using a HDMI cable
