umm, my dell is fairly close to the one you have listed and i love it. Its great for EVERYTHING. That dell will/should last about 4-6 years based on the way tecnology is changing. It's ok at high performance gaming, but most laptops aren't geared for high performance gaming.

GET THE ALIENWARE! Dell parts DRAMATICALLY pale in comparison to ALIENWARE.
Well i prefer macbooks but alienwares tend to be good but pricey right now the dell is better for the price
If you want t get into true gaming you need a good desktop but the dell is fine for you
And btw the dell tech staff aint that great so if you have probs you may ned to refer to here
Personally, I wouldnt consider either of them I would purchase one from VooDoo PC or WidowPC. They make custom laptops that outperform the alienware and dell combined for the same price. But between the two i would say the Dell is better choice.

go with dell they stand behind there stuff and they have so much you can upgrade to if for some reaon you need to this type of computer should do what you need it to
