Free to "air" cable channels without subscription?

Question: I'm not subscribed to any cable TV provider. If I buy a cable/digital HD box from best buy and hook it up to the cable outlet, will I recieve any free channels?
I live in Ottawa, Ontario.

Answer:
No. You must subscribe to receive anything from a digital box, even if it's purchased from a dealer. You must call your provider afterwards to get the service installed
