Is my HDMI cable faulty?

Question: I have just added a HDMI cable from my HDVR to my HDTV. Whenever I change from a HD channel to a none HD or vise versa, I get this green fuzzy picture, a bunch of other flickering, and then the required channel - with no defects.

Am I missing something during installation?

Do you have a second cable so you can check whether a different cable would make a difference? ~
It could be just switchover noise.
