SKY HD question?

Question:
I have sky hd and regularly watch more of these channels than the standard definition ones, I really think the sports coverage in HD is stunning but can I askthis

is it true that most of the content on these channels isnt in actual high def?,

as to be honest I feel alot of the programming looks just the same for example on National Geographic HD the adverts in between look far better than alot of the programming?.
Just because your watching an HD channel, doesnt mean that every programme is Hi-def. The way to know, is to press the info button or the select button, it will say HD in the top-right of the box if HD (along with other abbreviations such as WS for wide screen)

Hope this answers your question, Sky HD aint worth it yet in my opinion.
Some of them aren't, older programmes won't have been filmed in HD which means there won't be a difference. More and more things are now being filmed in HD (especially in America as they've had it there a while) so the amount of HD content will grow until at some point most things on TV will be in HD. Also the Americans notice HD quality difference more because their standard definition TV signal is in NTSC which is worse quality than the PAL standard we use, so that's why the improvement in picture quality isn't as big on ours.
Most of the contents on the HD channels are high def, but when you say that commercials look better than some of the programmes. That is because for the last three years Discovery/Nat Geo has been filming using high def cameras, none of the previous years filming was in high def due to them not having the equipment. Sky have on the other hand for last two years spent over a billion on cameras for all the sports channels and arts on HD.So everything they film for these are in HD. Now the movies if you have noticed are all new ones on HD hence the quality, Sky one not all programmes are HD because Sky one just screens and does not make the programmes.

hope this explains it all
it all depends on the quality of your HD TV i.e. 1920x1080 is true 100% HD TV. if the resolution is less than this then its not 1080P HD (more like mine). it's optimum is 720P with a maximum of 1080i and the rest is stretched.
