Comcast HD question?

Question:
I am using a Vizio 37" LCD television (VW37L). I have a Comcast DVR connected via HDMI cables to the TV.

When I watch normal channels, they are in 480i, which is fine. But my problem is when I switch to the HD channels (200-300) All of the channels are displayed in a 4x9 setting. The two bars on the sides are always there. What are the recommended settings in the DVR or TV that I should mess with?

Also, when I hit the "wide" button on the Vizio remote, nothing changes. I've accessed the DVR's settings, but I don't know what should be changed.

Answer:
a1c: I also have Comcast with a DVR box, but thankfully don't share your problems. I suspect it is something in your Vizo menu and/OR the setting on the Vizo and/or Comcast remotes. Regardless, call Comcast service. Part of what you pay for every month is (lol) service, and a Comcast tech should have set this up correctly when it was installed.
