If i plug my directv cable from the wall into the back of my hd tv would i get channels?

Question:

No you won't get anything. The satellite signal requires the cable box with CAM card to decode the signal. You have to have a receiver box to get any kind of picture or sound from satellite TV.
You need to use a directv tuner, which it doesn't have. However, it might have a HDTV tuner. If it does, you can try using any kind of FM or terrestrial TV antenna and see how it works. However, the better way is buy an amplified antenna. see link below for TERK antennas and info on finding the right HD antenna. Also at the bottom is a link to antenna web dot org. for HDTV broadcast in your area. hope this helps
