How many networks actually broadcast in full HD (1080)?

Question:
My cable looked like all HD channels were full 1080 HD, now that I'm with Directv the box switches to 720p on most HD channels and they don't look as good. ESPN is one in particular.

Answer:
YOUR CABLE COMPANY BROADCAST ALMOST EVERYTHING AT 480i.MOST CABLE COMPANIES BROADCAST HDTV IN A BLOCK LIKE CHANNELS 700-799 (TIME/WARNER NY). 800-899 (VERIZON FIOS).
THE "STANDARD" FOR HDTV IS 1080i, THEREFOR THAT IS TRUE HDTV. ANY ONE CAN COME ALONG AND SELL A PLAYER OR TV THAT HAS ANY NUMBER OF LINES p OR i AND CALL IT "SUPER DUPER HD" IF THEY WANT.
BLUERAY AND HD-DVD AREN'T "THE STANDARD". WHO KNOWS IF EITHER WILL EVEN BE AROUND IN A FEW YEARS. BUT 1080i IS HERE TO STAY,
LIKE IT OR NOT.
DirectTV has provided the American people with the biggest scam in HD television, since the creation of HD. Stay with cable for quality.
"Full" HD is 1080p, and no network or provider broadcasts in that resolution. The only way you'll see it anytime soon is Blu-Ray or HD DVD. HD via most cable systems broadcasts in either 1080i or 720p (selected via the settings on the box).
