DISH Network Can't Find My Over-Air Digital Channels?
Question:
Within five minutes, however, the HD channels that were now listed in my guide were not coming through when I selected them. Their analog counterparts came in fine. Additionally, I can't get any measure of signal strength on any channels anymore and the menu options where I search/add local channels does not even start a search.
I bought a newer model indoor antenna with an amplifier but am having the exact problem with it. Does anyone have an idea on how I can find and tune into these HD channels that now seem to be hiding from me?
Antenna location is always important. Most people place the antenna next to the TV. This is not a good place to put it. The antenna should be located as close to a window in the direction of the TV stations or placed on a shelf at the top of your wall and aimed thru the wall toward the stations. Avoid metal roofs and other sources of metal such as garage doors which might block or reflect the signal. If you want you can get an outside antenna that mounts on the dish but be sure to install a lightning arrestor on it and to ground that properly (just like the dish is supposed to be grounded).
Sounds like your antenna needs to go UP..you'll get better reception with an outdoor antenna mounted on your roof.
If a power amplifier can't lock in your stations that is your ONLY choice.
