A couple of months ago I decided to "attempt" to save my family some money by doing the Bell South bundles package crap, but in actuality it ended up putting us in debt and I had to go through all the hassle to have my local cable shut off and then shut off the Direct TV (which by the way was NOT worth the $$) They gave me a hassle about ending my "contract" with them even though I specifically made sure we had the 30 day guarantee they were offering at the time in case I didn't like the service. Eventually they released me from it and I had to return all their equipment to them. Finally about 2 months later we are back where we started, financially. So I wouldn't recommend the Bell South bundle package because it is not what they make it sound like and I would not recommend Direct TV because the service is not good, it really does go out a lot. In addition to their shabby business practices.

I have Direct Tv, The signal goes off when its raining hard... I had TWC B4 I dont recommend it.
I hated Comcast, I have had Direct TV for 2 years now and have never had a problem. My Brother switched from DISH to Direct.
I used to have Dish Network, everytime it rained hard or snowed the satellite went out..I switched to Comcast and it was cheaper (cause there was an 18 month special) and the signal never goes out.
right now i have dierctv,but wish i had dish network againbut have a 2 year contract. DN is more about the people.DTV is all about making money.
Well, we have Comcast AND DirectTV, which I personally feel is a waste, BUT...Whatever. I'm not paying for it, my parents are.
Comcast: Good variety of channels, and wont go out unless your power does. The downside is there are less channels on Comcast, especially compared to DirectTV. Comcast is cheaper than DirectTV.
DirectTV: Goes out in medium to strong wind, medium to strong rain, and in the snow. Sometimes it seems to go out when it's too hot outside, too, or if it's being particularly finicky. However, it has a pretty good channel variety, especially if you join when they've got a good deal going. You can also keep watching what you're watching while searching for something else to watch, and read descriptions of the programs while on the guide.
Dish Network: My Grandmother had this and ended up switching to Direct TV. I don't know if this tells you anything or not. I just remember not liking the extra features, like the fact that you can't see the program you're watching when you search for what's on another station.
So it's up to you, really. What features do you want? Comcast has great channels, but they don't have Bravo and other 'extras.' ESPN, CNN, Cartoon Network, etc. All the basic cable channels, however, are on it. Honestly, if it were my house and I were paying for the TV, I'd pick Comcast. It's more reliable and I don't really need the extras.
It depends on where you are and what to use these services for.

I've been waiting for someone to ask this question! COMCAST is where you will get the best programing for your money. NO CONTRACTS. Comcast doesn't require you to purchase any equipment either. You don't have to worry about getting a clear signal when the weather is bad either bcuz it's cable. Comcast has OUTSTANDING customer service and really works with you if you're having trouble with service or the bill. You will NEVER speak to someone in India when you call Comcast for help. Everyone you talk to will be in the US and usually in your state. This is important bcuz if you were to ever have service issues they'll be there within 24 hours. Also, if you have a problem and request a service call they won't charge you for that. If there even 5 minutes late for their appointment they respect your time and give you $20 off your bill.
And if for some reason you are not happy with the service and are thinking about going elsewhere, call them and let them know bcuz they want to keep you as a customer and make sure you're happy so you will be well taken care of.

Dish network sounds like a good deal until you actually get it, the basic level is inexpensive but to get all the channels you want it is as much or more than cable.I had it for 3 months and switched back to digital cable. The quality was about the same but cable was less expensive. Everyone I know that has/or had Direct TV has switched back to cable.
I have had Direct TV for several years, and I love it. I use a stand-alone antenna and had to add some extra weight to it to keep it stable in heavy rains, but since then I have almost never had a problem. I also got the TiVo through them and that works like a dream. I used to use my VCRs to record the TV shows I wanted to watch; now the TiVo replaces that and works very well.
I have the basic plus package that includes my local TV stations and a lot of other extra channels. I don’t have the premium channels like HBO and Showtime, but I got a whole lot of TV stations; more than Comcast offers in my area. Rain can also affect cable TV. If the water gets into the ground it can affect the wiring, or it can interfere with their satellites.
I don’t know about Dish Network. I recommend that you go to their websites and check out each package. See how much it will cost each month for the package you want, and how much the equipment costs. I know that Radio Shack used to sell Direct TV and now sells Dish Network, but I don’t know why. When you get equipment from Direct TV it is yours to keep, they don’t buy it back, but they also don’t charge you monthly rental fees, which cable companies do. It also means if you move you can leave the antenna behind and just buy another one. I paid about $50 for mine, 3 years ago.
Cable companies will tell you that since they rent you the equipment they will replace it free. However, electronics are pretty stable. If they don’t fail within the first 90 days then they usually last a very long time. I still have a VCR that I got in 1990 and it works fine.
TiVo charges a $12 monthly connect charge (Direct TV only charges me $8 per month). Every night between 2-5 a.m. the TiVo automatically calls the main company for a software update and to update your TV schedule for the next two weeks. I buy the weekly Sunday newspaper and use their TV Guide, but every time there is a difference between the two the TiVo is correct. I highly recommend getting the TiVo package. I have a 2 tuner 80 hour TiVo that only cost me $100, vs. $400 for a stand alone TiVo. To get that discount I just had to agree that I would remain a Direct TV customer for 1 year. That was close to 2 years ago and I have had no problems with my system; I pay just less than $60 per month for the entire package including the service connection fees, cable may be cheaper, but I love my Direct TV TiVo.
If you don’t already have a broadband Internet connection then you might want to check out a broadband-cable package deal. To get broadband through Direct TV will cost at least another $60 per month and it will always have a 1 second delay because the signal has to go to a satellite. Comcast offers a broadband cable modem connection. I have had a Comcast Cable Modem Broadband for almost 3 years and the first modem I got was a failure prone piece of garbage. Since then though I have never had a cable modem or cable line problem.
