Can you reprogramme a Sky remote for a HD digibox?

Question: We got our new Sky HD box yesterday and the original Sky remote won't work with it (we have a 'magic eye' so we can change channels upstairs in the bedroom).
Is there a way of re-programming the original Sky remote so that it will change channels on the HD digibox? We don't need it to do Sky+ or anything like that, just be able to pick another programme to watch.
