Question:
i just put another digital cable box in a room in my house, decided to go hd with it since the tv can. i got the dvr from them and the cables and i am watching some hd right now. but, channels 2-99 do not come in and are giving me the "this channel will be available soon" or whatever. its getting me so mad. i have the coax cable running into the dvr box and from there component cables running to the tv from the dvr. i have a samsung 42" dlp. please help, comcast cant help with anything. i think i need to hook up something else to get the regular channels? i have no idea. thanks in advance.

i think the dvr model is motorola dct3416 i.
call their ******* number1800comcast!you pay them a lot of money...
We also subscribe to Comcast HDTV. Because it is still a relatively new technology, these cable boxes have a lot of problems. In the last 5 months we have had half of dozen visits from Comcast technicians and been to their office for new boxes about 4 times.

Of course, it could also be problems with capacity of data throughput in your area, connections in or outside of the house, and a number of other things that might be causing the problem.

The easiest thing to do is to call Comcast, and they will send technicians to help you setup. There is no charge for the service in my area.

Further more, if the problem is theirs you can ask the billing department to give you credit for the days you aren't receiving HDTV programs properly.

Best of luck.
Make sure that you have all the coax cable ends tightened. One of the leading reasons for bad reception is that the connectors at the end of the coax cables are loose. Always check them behind the DVR or similar converters, and at the wall plate. If you dont have a wall plate check the basement, attic, or outside for a splitter and make sure it allows 5-1000 mhz to pass. Make sure that you do not have too many splitters! Dont ever use a push-on connector as they will almost always result in signal problems on both converters and tvs.

A comcast technician will be able to assist you with checking the RF signal levels to make sure that everything is good signal-wise. Call up comcast and make sure they can send a bi-directional signal (dpet or hit) and that the box is activiated with the correct channel lineup (very important).

Please email me if you have any further questions about any dvr, cable, digital, analog, HD, TV, or any other telecommunication problem.
Hey there I work for Comcast
And just so you know we're not ALL idiots. However, there are some amoung us.
You won't be able to get the channels 2-99(basic) in HD. However they should still be coming through. Have you tried totally unplugging your box and plugging it back in? Those Motorola's are sometimes tempermental jokers. If that doesn't work you can either take the box into you local cable store or call 1800Comcast and have someone come out & look at it. Good luck!
