When you get basic or expanded cable (from comcast), is it in analog format or digital format?
Question:
Answer:
Basic and Expanded Cable are analog channels. There is no converting them to SDTV digital quality or HDTV digital quality because the problem with analog is that it isn't SDTV or HDTV quality.
If you have the DVR set-top box, the analog channels will be converted to digital and sent to the TV, but there will be no improvement, they just be lower quality digital.
Comcast does have digital channels and may have HDTV channels in your area. The digital channels are 480i digital. They'll look better than many of the analog channels. And the HDTV channels look phenomenal. The Olympics look brilliant.
BTW, your mileage will vary when it comes to DirecTV and the "all digital" local channels. For me, they looked worse than the analog versions on my next door neighbor's DirecTV / antenna combo.
good question. Did you try to talk to Comcast about it and only got an idiot on the phone ? Well I'm sorry i can't really answer your question. Get Directv. It's much better service. and it's 100% digital. NO need to worry about that there. Plus if you use me as a reference, we both get a service credit.
