I have had Dish Network for 5 years and have never had a problem with it. Also if you are looking for HDTV programming Dish Network has the most. They have a sweet receiver called ViP622 which can record HD and SD. You can also hook up a standard UHF antenna and get HDTV from the air waves. You can record 2 shows at a time or 3 if you have the UHF antenna. They are very affordable and have very good technical support as well as company installers with company vans. Direct TV seems to just use whoever they can find. Most are not very friendly.
The dish cuts out durng the most inoppertune times for cloudyness and storms so I would go with direct and do have tryed bothe.
i like direct tv-- you don't have to worry aabout the weather knocking out your satellite...
stay away from satellite - too finicky.
