Witch way does the direct TV dish face?

It faces the Southern sky. It depends on your zip as to what angle. It can be very tough to find the signal at first, but once you find one, use someone to yell out the signal strength. I just went through this with my Wife after moving apartments, and did it on my own! Got my signal up to 93% strength!

towards texas.you should be able to enter a location zip code and it will tell you how to point it from the set up menu....

Direct TV's satellite is in the south. If you do not have a clear line of sight from the site of the sattelite dish to the south, they will not install it.
In your dish menu you can type in your zip code and it will tell you the exact angle and elevation for your location
