Can I get an audio converter to convert optical sound into coaxial?

Question:
We recently bought a DVD-HD Recorder but it's not compatible with the older 5.1 surround sound system that we have. The new recorder uses the single cable optical sound standard whereas the 5.1 system uses the coaxial standard with a lead for each channel.

The manual for the DVD-Recorder says that you can get a converter but I haven't had any luck finding one.

Does anyone know where I can get one?

Answer:
The system you are referring to as using the "coaxial standard with a lead for each channel" is not using Coax at all. Digital Coax is also a single, digital connection. What you are referring to is 6 Channel analog, so you need a Dolby decoder OR a DVD player that has the 6 channel output.

These are available, but you will probably have to buy one online. The creative DDTS-100 is one such item to give you a start.
