Recording on DVD from an HD CableBox w/o coax?

Question:
I have a TimeWarner HD Cable converter connected to my HDTV. It does not use coax from box to tv, but rather component or hdmi(currently component). The only coax is from the cable line into the hd box. Therefor I do not watch tv on channel 3/4 but rather on a video input(ie video5). I have an LG HD dvd recorder/vcr connected via component cables (will be upgrading to hdmi shortly) to a different video input in the tv(ie video4) I can play dvds, but when i try to record i get snow. How do i get the dvd recorder to recognize the correct channel to record. (The dvd does have coax in and out) Will be adding a Home Theater too soon, will that help or change anything in setup?

Answer:
you should be able to plug your hd box into the dvd recorder and then plug your dvd recorder in the tv... you should be able to then set the channel on the recorder to your input option and it should work. if you're gona get the theater, maybe you should think about having it professionally installed. they will help you learn to use everything too.
