I have a new Viore 42" Plasma TV. can I just hook this up to my present Dish Neywork Cables or do I have to H

Question:
Can I hook up my Viore Plasma TV to my present Dish Network myself or do I need professional installation? Will my present Dish setup accomadate HDTV Signals?
I think that you should be able to hook up the TV and Cable box without any assistance from Dish Network.

The normal Dish Network box is not capable of capturing a HD signal. for this you will need to contact Dish Network and get a HD Box. This is usually about $12.00 more each month.

When hooking up a HD television it is key to use correct cables. Most local cable providers are unable to transfer a true HD signal (1080p), so any poor cabling can degrade a signal.

When the signal is brought into the house, it is only 720i. Your HD tuner is computing (creating) the HD signal. The only way to capture a true HD signal is for you to use a HD antenna and go directly into the TV. In this case, you must have a HD tuner in the actual TV or use an external HD tuner.

I believe that currently the only satellite network to carry a true HD signal is Direct TV, I do not believe that Dish Network is currently offering HD satellite service.
you can do it your self, just make sure your TV is HD built in or integrated, and not HD ready or else your going to need an HD decoder which can be rented from ur cable or satelite provider .
You can but what I am doing that I recommend you do as well is upgrade to a dish hd reciever. This will allow you to recieve hd programming. It costs about $20 extra for the HD channels but there is about 25 of them including local HD channels like fox cbs nbc abc. I just got off the phone with them yesterday and they are coming in a week I can't wait. They also change out your dish to a hd dish to access the programming. The new dish's have a hdmi hookup as well which will give you the best picture and sound possible. I upgraded to the dish silver package and a hd dvr dual tuner reciever. The reciever had a $199 upgrade fee and a $6 a month lease fee but you can use 2 tv's off it and can record shows and access them on either tv. Check out there website it has a lot of information about the HD programming and recievers on them to look at. If you hook it up how your dish is set up now you basically are not utilizing your new HDTV and it is acting like a normal TV. I am sure the quality will be better but you will not be utilizing the full ability of the tv. When you see the tv's in the store they are utilizing hd signals 720p. So when you get it home it will not look like that unless you have HD signals coming in.
