Is there something wrong with my new HDTV?
Question:
Answer:
that is normal, its because the improved resolution is showing the imperfections that a regular tv can not. All HD displays look pretty crappy when watching regular programming (non-HD)
That's what happens with HDTVs. Its because you are getting an HD signal so when you watch SDTV (standard def) channels it has to convert those so you can watch them. Thus resulting in lower quality than normal.
stay away from plasma tv's, a circuit city rep. told me, the life expectancy on plasma is short, you can get 9 thousand hours out of a plasma tv then its all over
look plasma TVs have a half life of 60000 hrs that's 7 hrs a day 18 years of watching TVs the b oy at circuit city doesn't know what he saying about plasma the problem with watching non hd channels is that most hd TVs have line doubling circuits in them and if you have snowy channel it doubles it Sony in its setup can change that abit its called the drc program(digital reality program) it can make the non digital pictures better, the Panasonic is the number one plasma TV sold in the USA
Another thing you might consider that has happened is that you might have went from a smaller TV to a bigger one? If that's the case you are going to see imperfections more easily because of the larger viewing size..
Sony has a feature called DRC digital reality creator that does a very good job in enhancing SDTV (standard television) and making it look more clear. I believe the Bravia has that feature, ha vent done any research in about a year. Another thing to try is playing with the color settings and "dial the picture in" to your likings. If you have a HDTV box from the cable company it may have to be set up to display better on your TV. Call the cable Company and ask them how to do this or have someone come out and do it for you.
Good luck!
