Question:
It's crazy how channels are going HD but then having all out wars with the cable providers and we have to suffer for that ! I heard KCAL 9 in LA is going HD Jan 1st 2007, but I know they will have to negotiate with the providers before we even get it. The channels should go to the people and we can subscribe to the HD channels we want and cut out all the mess with the cable company's. What do you think? For example we have Charter Cable in Long Beach Ca. and we want the National Geographic Channel but Dish only has this channel. Fox Sports West HD is only carried by Direct TV, and the nightmare goes on ! What can we do ?
Answer:
It seems to be a power struggle between the networks and the cable companies. They all want more money and and they want us to pay for it. I personally see nothing wrong with the way television is today and see no reason to upgrade. But they all want more money and sooner or later people will decide it is too much and stop watching.
I doubt there's anything a consumer can do other than switching providers (if able to) or writing to the companies. And the obvious answer, unplugging the TV. In Michigan, the legislature just passed a bill allowing more cable competors throughout the state.
*uc* Charter.
