HD on HDTV..?

Question:
So I just got a HDTV and I'm thinking about getting HD channels but I heard that you need digital cable to have HD, is this true? Cause I only have basic cable. And if I do get the cable box, do I automatically get HD from it?

Answer:
you don't NEED cable to get HD channels. however
assuming your HDTV has an HD tuner you can just connect a 'decent' antenna and get HD channels over the air.

cablevision will give you an HD cable box for free, if you ask for it, free as in it's nothing more then what you already pay for the box you have now.
but you can can't get HD cable channels without digital cable.
that's iO for cablevision

you have to check with your cable company..
-----------------------
for cablevision you need iO to get HD, and if you get iO, then you get HD for nothing extra, just tell them you want a box and they'll bring it, or you can pick it up, you'll only get the HD premium channels if you subscribe to the regular premium channel, in other words you'll only get HBO HD if you have HBO.

i hope the helped
Well depends on the cable companyif have get DTV to get HDTV some have just HDTV package witch is only couple channels. Put much all them make you get box if you do want HDTV regradless on HDTV Ready tuner..
