Kenwood HTB-707DV 6.1 channel Standard Home Theater System-a/v receiver

DirectTV HD satellite receiver

Kenwood cd/dvd player.

How can I hook up all this to get dolby digital sound.
All I get right now is Pro-Logic.
I have all possible cables that need hooking up(component, HDMI, toslink, digital coax)

Please help!!!!!!

Answer:
It looks as though the receiver does component video switching.

You have a few options here:

First thing, I would hook up the component out from the receiver to the TV.

Now here is where you have an option. If your DirectTV box has HDMI out, you can hook that via HDMI directly to the TV. Then you would use the digital coax out on the TV and plug it into the receiver. This will get you sound from either the TV or you can use your receiver.

The other option would to hook it up via component and use the digital coax or optical (doesn't matter) out from it to the receiver. You may also want to run the stereo patch cable from it to the TV or run it out from the receiver so you don't need to use the receiver, this of course is assuming that you won't use your receiver all the time.
Direct hook up is always the best way. I am not sure about the input/output of all of your components. But you definitely want to connect your satellite to your TV through HDMI and through optical cable to your receiver for audio. Your DVD, unless it is HD, can be connected through component. I have no idea why you can't get Dolby sound because it is pretty basic.
For your Satellite receiver, connect a wire (either optical or coaxial, depending on your connections) from the digital audio OUTput of the DirectTV HD satellite receiver, send to digital audio INput on the Kenwood HTB-707DV 6.1 channel Standard Home Theater System-a/v receiver.
Hopefully, you have more than 1(one) digital audio INput on the Kenwood HTB-707DV 6.1 channel Standard Home Theater System-a/v receiver. If so then you can also have your Kenwood cd/dvd player connected in the same manner.
For best audio connect an optical wire from DVD/Sat Receiver to audio receiver.
Make sure your DVD and Direct TV receiver both have Dolby Digital and DTS on. You can do this by going to audio set up in both harware's menu set up.
Note: if you dont have digital audio turned on in any audio source, it wont produce digital audio, even if you connect every wire correctly. Make sure all 5 or 6 speakers are connected to the audio receiver correctly. If you have multiple optical audio inputs on your receiver, just connect each on one. from there just change the source in you receiver options.

For best video, make sure your sat. receiver and TV has HDMI. Fuse them by means of that connection. if not use your standard 3 component cables. On your receiver menu go to video out put options, select what format you want ( 480i,480p,720p,1080i) for best video choose 1080i, just as long as the show your going to watch supports it.
