I think I've lost something here. High-Def TV to me just sounds like a con.?

Question:
You pay hundreds of pounds for the TV, than in the UK, the only way to get high-def channels (because if you just plug sky/freeview/analogue into it it makes no difference), is sky HD, which costs £300 for the box, £60 installation, £10 a month, than to get no movies/sports and only 2 'mix's is another £15.

And UK is turning digital only, not high def, so there's no reason to get it?

Am I right here?

Answer:
one word-ps3!
In your case and the way you describe it, I agree with you
HD is suffering from severely premature promotion. We have HD ready sets but most of us will only be getting more HD content (be it whole channels or selected programmes) for free after the analogue signal shut off (2012 for London).
So, HD LCD's for now really are better suited to those with modern games machines, upcoming HD DVD players and those who really care for a thin screen. Otherwise CRT is the smart choice for now.
Hmm, it does cost more, however some stations come in over the airwaves. However, HD is really beautiful to look at.
