Can an Apt. owner have an exclusive cable contract that restricts tenants from using Dish or Direct TV?
Question:
Answer:
Haza! my good man,for once the feds are on your side!! Federal Law says that a tenet CAN put up a satellite, despite the objections on the homeowners association/rules! They do love to "bully"their tenants into accepting the lame offerings of cable over satellite!! Call "Dish Network" and they should be able to give ya the lo down. if not call the "FCC" office in Seattle and ask for the web page to show the rules to the landlord!
In Florida they can.
They can in Ohio, too.
You can have an exclusive cable contract that restricts other tenants, but Dish Network has a dish that you can put outside your window or on a patio. This is a better deal, and the dish has a direct feed, that goes rite to your own converter. The dish is only about 18 inches in diameter.
I could see how they could restrict it if it were house mounted, but not if it were on a pole that is provided by dish network or direct t.v. as long as when you move you remove the pole and fill the hole. Maybe you should mention it to your landlord and see if they have a problem with it and let them know that you will run the cable through where the cable has already been ran and make no more holes in the apartment.
Section 207 of what? What Title (or whatever) -- I'd like to look it up.
Thanks.
