Show jumped back and forth between HD and regular TV?

Question:
Have a new Panasonic plasma HDTV. Recorded "The Office" on NBC's HD channel. When watching the playback off my DVR, it started in HD, then halfway thru switched to non-high def and then finished up back in HD. How and why? PLEASE don't say a "loose wire" because that's not it.

Answer:
It's the broadcast, not the TV. Since switching to HD a couple of years ago, we've noticed this happens frequently. Particularly on ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. Most often after returning from a commerical break, which is always broadcast in analog, it will not switch back into HD for a short time. Also, anytime there is a weather or news ticker added to the screen, it will automatically switch to analog. I'm not sure why it happens, but it does... more often than it probably should.

Don't worry about your TV tho. It shows what's being broadcast.
