Are free HD channels received over the air with an antenna fuzzy or do they come in crystal clear?

Question:
I don't want to bother with subscribing to an HD package for my satellite until more channels are available, especially local channels. I was wondering if getting an HD antenna was a good option or a waste of time.

Answer:
I purchased a $30 Philips HD indoor antenna for the plasma we just bought and the the signal we receive is crystal clear. We live around 10-15 miles out of the city and get 97% signal, but the antenna is very sensitive. The higher you can place it, the less interferance you will get.
in the UK they will be broadcast from 2009 onwards depending on your area. they will be crystal clear transmissions as long as you have a digital arial and an HDTV with an HD tuner in it.
If you are fairly close to the broadcasters transmitters and you invest in a decent HD antenna, you should be fine.

Remember...it's ones and zeros...on or off.

If the signal is too weak, you may get digital tiling, freezing, or no picture at all.
You should be able to get decent amount of "over the air" channels with a good antenna and they should all come in crystal clear. Now if you have a lot of tall trees or buildings near you then you may not get that many channels. Take a look at this website... http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/address.asp... You can type in your address and it will tell you what channels you should get in your area.
